Our Water Treatment Plant provides high quality potable drinking water to the residents of the City of Red Deer, Red Deer County, Town of Blackfalds, City of Lacombe, Lacombe County, Town of Ponoka, and Ponoka County. We adhere to regulations set by the Province of Alberta and the Canadian Drinking Water Standards.

Treating Our Water

Treating water is a necessary step in providing safe drinking water to our communities. Water treatment serves the following purposes:

  • Eliminate bacteria and microorganisms that may cause illness.
  • Remove chemicals, metals and solids of concern from the water.
  • Eliminate colour, taste and odour.
