If you experience connection issues when using HotSpot, we suggest turning off ShawOpen wifi on your phone while you set up your parking session. Remember to turn it back on when your transaction is complete.
xParking permits are available for individual customers and businesses in several downtown parking lots. Permit holders can manage their accounts via HotSpot, a free mobile app.
If you are purchasing a monthly parking permit for the first time, you need a HotSpot account with a vehicle and a payment method added.
Purchasing for a Permit Using the HotSpot Mobile App:
- Open the app.
- Press the hamburger icon (three lines in the upper left corner).
- Press Purchase a Permit.
- Verify that your city is correct.
- Press Select a Location, select a parking lot*, and press Select a Location.
- Verify that the licence plate is correct.
- Press the permit listed under your plate number.
- Carefully review the information about the permit and the lot.
- Optional: Press Auto Renew if you want to automatically renew each month.
- Press Purchase.
- Check your email for a confirmation message from HotSpot.
Purchasing a Permit Using the HotSpot Web Dashboard
- Open a browser window.
- Go to htsp.ca and click Log in.
- Click the Permits tab. You might see two permit panels: one for the current month and one for the next month. Ensure that you purchase for the correct month.
- Select a city.
- Select a location.
- Select a lot.*
- Select a permit.
- Verify that the licence plate is correct.
- Optional: Select the Would you like this permit to auto renew checkbox if you want to automatically renew each month.
- Carefully review the information about the permit and the lot.
- Press Purchase.
- Check your email for a confirmation message from HotSpot.
*Please note there may be a waitlist for your preferred lot.
After you set up your HotSpot account and apply for your permit, we recommend taking the following actions:
- Enable auto-renew so your permit renews automatically every month until you cancel it
- Allow notifications from HotSpot, which alert customers of lot closures and other parking related impacts
