Business Improvement Area (BIA)
The Business Improvement Area (BIA) tax payment deadline is the last business day in June. Balances remaining unpaid will be charged penalties per the Tax Penalty Bylaw.
A Business Improvement Area is created by the businesses located within a specific area, in order to provide benefits to all of the businesses. An independent board prepares a budget to fund their programs and services. The City collects an annual BIA tax from the businesses within the area on behalf of the BIA to fund this budget.
Red Deer currently has one Business Improvement Area – The Downtown Business Association (DBA). For information on programs and services they provide, please visit The Downtown Business Association website.
The City of Red Deer prepares annual BIA assessment and tax notices which are mailed in May. Taxes are due June 30.
