Red Deer RCMP on scene of serious motor vehicle collision – update #2

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on Aug. 30, 2025, north of Red Deer on Highway 2a.

Police are seeking public assistance and asking any witnesses or those who may have dashcam video footage, to please come forward to assist in the investigation.

Update #1

Red Deer, Alta. – On Aug. 30, 2025, at 9:34 a.m.,  Red Deer RCMP received a report of serious two vehicle collision between an SUV and a motorcycle on Highway 2a just North of Red Deer. Upon arrival, the driver of the motorcycle, a 48-year-old Blackfalds resident, was deceased. The driver of the SUV, an 18-year-old female resident of Red Deer, was taken to hospital with injuries. RCMP remained on scene for several hours conducting an investigation. Police have now cleared from the scene and normal traffic flow has resumed.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

RCMP offer our condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway 2a just North of Red Deer. The highway is being redirected in both directions while emergency workers respond and police investigate. RCMP anticipate remaining on scene for several hours.

An update is anticipated.
