Red Deer, Alta. - Red Deer RCMP have charged one male and dismantled a drug trafficking operation following an investigation this month.
In early November 2025, Red Deer RCMP received information of a male who was trafficking drugs in the City of Red Deer. Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS) Priority Crimes Team took carriage of the investigation, which led to police obtaining a search warrant for the suspects room at a local hotel in the South Hill neighbourhood.
On Nov. 12, 2025, Red Deer RCMP GIS Priority Crimes Team, with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT), General Duty, Police Dog Services (PDS), and Alberta RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed the search warrant. As a result, police seized 341 grams of Fentanyl and $2190 in Canadian currency.
Michael Stinert, a 44 year old male resident of Red Deer, was arrested and charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Stinert was remanded into custody to appear in court on Nov. 20, 2025, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
“This investigation represents a significant disruption to local drug activities and demonstrates the RCMP’s ongoing commitment to keeping fentanyl and other dangerous substances out of our neighborhoods,” says Cst. Mark Fraser, Red Deer RCMP GIS-Priority Crimes Team.
