On Oct. 31, 2024, Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Unit, with the assistance of Red Deer RCMP General Duty officers, the Downtown Patrol Unit and Police Dog Services, successfully located and apprehended two individuals involved in a stolen vehicle incident.
At approximately 3:27 p.m., officers identified a stolen vehicle located at a business in downtown Red Deer. Upon arrival, the passenger of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was taken into custody following a brief foot pursuit. The driver of the vehicle was also apprehended.
Saleem El-Majzoub, a 39-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:
- Drive with no insurance
- Drive with no registration
- Drive with unauthorized plate
- Possess property obtained by crime over $5000
- Possess property obtained by crime under $5000
- Fail to comply with release order
- Possession of a controlled substance x3
- Dangerous driving
- Driving while prohibited
- Flight from police
- Resist arrest
- Fraudulent concealment
- Possess weapon for a dangerous purpose
Saleem El-Majzoub was taken before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. His last court date was on Nov. 4, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer.
Anthony Deck, a 31-year-old resident of Red Deer, has been charged with the following offences:
- Resist arrest
- Theft under $5,000
