Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit investigate homicide in Red Deer - update

Red Deer, Alta. – The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has laid charges in connection with a March 10, 2025, homicide in Red Deer. RCMP have identified the victim in the homicide as 23-year-old Mandeep Kaur.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged 21-year-old, Gurpreet Singh, with second-degree-murder.

A Canada wide warrant has been issued for Singh’s arrest. Singh is believed to have left the county and efforts to locate him are ongoing.

Red Deer, Alta. – On March 10, 2025 at 7:59 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report of a deceased person in an apartment on 30th Street in Red Deer. Upon arrival, police located a deceased 21-year-old woman. The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit was contacted and has taken carriage of the investigation.

The deceased has been taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the death has been deemed as a homicide.

Although early in the investigation, police believe this was a targeted attack and there is no ongoing risk to the public.
