Red Deer RCMP make arrest following conclusion of investigation into drug trafficking in Red Deer
On April 30th, 2024, Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section (GIS), with support from Police Dog Services (PDS), Red Deer RCMP Intelligence Analysts and K Division Digital Forensic Services, concluded a 4 month long investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs within the city Red Deer. Police executed search warrants on two residences: one located in the Johnstone Park neighbourhood of Red Deer and the second property located in the Allard neighbourhood of Edmonton. Red Deer RCMP seized a total of 28.7 grams of cocaine and 45,000 dollars in Canadian currency.
Buay Tung, a 30-year-old resident of Edmonton, has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance
- Trafficking a controlled substance (cocaine)
- Possession of proceeds of crime
Following a Judicial Interim Release Hearing, Buay was released by a Justice for the court on a Release Order. He is scheduled to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Red Deer on May 23rd, 2024.
