Red Deer RCMP arrest aggravated assault suspect

Red Deer, Alta. – The Red Deer RCMP have arrested the suspect involved in the May 22 assault against a Walmart Loss Prevention Officer. The individual was located Thursday afternoon in Red Deer and was arrested without incident.

Raine William Gray, 24, has been charged with the following:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Failure to comply with a release order

Gray is scheduled to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on May 31, 2021.

May 26, 2021

Red Deer, Alta. – On May 22, 2021, at approximately 4:00 p.m., Red Deer RCMP received a report of a physical altercation at the Walmart located at 2010 50 Ave.

When an on-duty Loss Prevention Officer approached a male suspect believed to be shoplifting, the suspect stabbed the victim and then fled the store. The victim sustained minor injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment.

The public’s assistance is being sought to identify this individual. The suspect is described as an indigenous male, wearing a gray hoody and gray sweat pants at the time of the incident. He was last seen on foot near the CIBC located at 5111 22 Street.
