Who can apply?

An owner or licensed contractor can submit a Demolition Permit Application. If you are not the owner of the property, you will need to submit a Letter of Authorization (pdf) .

How do I apply?

1. Read through the Demolition Guideline (pdf) and Fire Safety Plan (pdf) for important information.
2. Submit a fully completed application, including all spaces filled out on the application form, and providing all items on the Demolition Permit Requirement List. A complete application allows us to start your file.
3. Once you have the complete application package, email it to development@reddeer.ca.

What inspections will I need?

Required inspections will be determined when the Safety Codes Officer reviews your application, and will be listed on the Safety Codes Building Permit when it is approved and issued. Typically, a pre-demolition inspection will be required.

When can I schedule an inspection?

Once your Safety Codes Building Permit has been approved and issued, you will receive an email with instructions of how to schedule an inspection. 

Depending on the type of structure you intend to build on the demolition site, you will need to submit the corresponding checklist to accompany your Demolition Permit Application. 

Also, make sure to include the full scope of your intentions (from demolition to rebuild) in your Letter of Intent.

• If you intend to build a new home, please include the information from the Residential Application Requirement List (pdf) with your application.
• If you are building a new detached garage or shed (over 100 sq ft), include the Building Permit Application Requirement List: Accessory Buildings (pdf) and Accessory Building Detail Sheet (pdf) and its requirements with your application.
• If it is a new commercial building, please provide the items of the Building Permit Application Requirement List: Commercial/Industrial (pdf) with your application.
