Speed Limits
Speed limits are set to achieve a uniform speed for all motorists. Limits within the city are set and maintained by The City's Engineering department and enforced by the RCMP.
The regulations for speed limits within the city are set out in the Traffic Safety Act and The City of Red Deer Traffic Bylaw.
For a list of criteria used to determine a speed limit, see Traffic FAQ’s.
Common speed zones and limits:
- The speed limit within the city is 50 km/hr unless otherwise posted.
- School and Playground Zones.
- Back Lanes - 20 km/h: Effective every day at all times.
