Greater Downtown is the umbrella description for Red Deer’s central area, including Historic Downtown, Capstone, Railyards and Parkvale.

Downtown businesses voted in favour of disestablishing the BIA, and The City is now proceeding with the legislative process required under provincial legislation.

The official date of disestablishment is May 27, 2026.

Yes. The City will continue essential downtown services and will support downtown public spaces and events during the transition.
