The 2020 Mayor’s Recognition Awards have gone virtual. As with many important traditions and celebrations over the past 16 months, the Mayor’s Recognition Awards was challenged to adapt and transform our traditional in-person ceremony to a virtual event.
Traditionally, The City hosts an awards ceremony to honour the award recipients with their families, guests and nominators in attendance at the celebration. This year all of the awards were delivered and we are celebrating virtually to ensure all of the recipients receive the honour and recognition they deserve.
The Mayor’s Recognition Awards recognize individuals, groups or teams who have brought honour and recognition to Red Deer in one of five categories. Award recipients are chosen by the Mayor’s Recognition Awards Selection Committee, with the exception of the Mayor’s Special Award recipient, which is selected by the Mayor.
This year, 41 individuals and teams are being recognized. Thanks to all the nominators, and congratulations to our award recipients, including not one, but two Mayor’s Special Award recipients.
