Street sweepers are rolling onto residential streets

(Red Deer, Alberta)

Residential street sweeping will begin on April 25, as crews will complete sweeping medians and boulevards throughout the city on April 22.

Crews will sweep the downtown area on May 2, 2021. Parks crews will also be out sweeping sidewalks and trails throughout the city. Pedestrians and motorists are asked to be cautious around street and sidewalk sweeping equipment by staying at least three car lengths away to avoid injury or damage from flying debris.

As always, we are asking residents to help by moving their cars off the roads before we come in.

“We know there are many Red Deerians still working from home. This means there will be more cars on the streets, when typically there would be less,” said Greg Sikora, Parks and Public Works Manager. “In order for sweepers to get all debris off the street, we need those vehicles moved to off-street parking. Vehicles parked on the street will be ticketed and towed to an adjacent road.”

Residents are encouraged to sign up for Notify Red Deer to receive a notification reminder when street sweepers will be in their area.

Notify Red Deer is the City’s notification system that provides essential information about City operations and local emergencies to Red Deer residents so that they can stay informed and get the most out of City services. Visit redder.ca/notify to create an account or to update alert preferences.

A schedule will soon be available on The City's website at reddeer.ca/streetsweeping.
