The City of Red Deer is excited to introduce a new grant, encouraging local sport organizations to work together with social agencies to bring inclusive opportunities to Red Deer.

The Collaboration in Sport Fund will provide up to $50,000 in one-time funding for removing barriers and encouraging new ways of providing sport-based programming to underserved Red Deerians.

This grant will provide from $5,000 up to $25,000 per application to support community-led projects that support the vision and goals of The City’s Social Policy Framework. This grant has a total of $50,000 available to support these initiatives.

Successful applications will demonstrate that through collaboration between groups the following outcomes will be achieved:

  • Increase recreation participation rates
  • Remove barriers to enhance access to recreation
  • Enhance community pride, identity and diversity for positive social impact
  • Grow cultural understanding

“As a part of our continued efforts to empower our local sport organizations and social agencies, we are pleased to bring yet another grant opportunity to the community. We hope the programs that result from this grant, will break down barriers and improve access to sport, recreation and wellness for people who experience challenges or attitudes that have prevented them from participating in the past,” says Kristin Walsh, Manager of Safe & Healthy Communities. “Collaboration between groups is essential to achieving these outcomes and fostering a more inclusive community.”

The application deadline for the Collaboration in Sport Fund is September 20, 2024.

The launch of this new funding opportunity is powered by a new online application portal designed to streamline the process for applicants. For more information, the application guide and resources, visit www.reddeer.ca/CollaborationGrant.
