Returning Garden Plot Program Registration

The Garden Plot Program allows participants the opportunity to grow organic food, build a strong community while enjoying the outdoor spaces throughout Red Deer.

Previous years garden applicants will have the first opportunity to re-register for the upcoming garden season. The following steps must be completed to re-register, for the same garden as previous year, or switch the location or size of garden. 

It is the responsibility of the applicant to thoroughly review the Application Agreement Terms and Expectations before applying for this program.

Steps to Renew 2023 Garden Plot for the 2024 Season: Starting March 1, 2024

  • Step 1: Update Look n' Book account contact information.

  • Step 2: Fill out a 2024 Gardener Application Form (pdf) electronically, or print and fill out by hand. If filled out electronically, save the file to your computer and send the completed form to cemeteryservices@reddeer.ca. If filled out by hand, scan the completed form and send it in an e-mail to cemeteryservices@reddeer.ca or bring the form to the Alto Reste Cemetery office during business hours, Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

  • Step 3: The signed and completed application must be submitted within the dates listed in the table below. Unfinished applications will not be filled out on the applicant's behalf and will not be contacted to complete payment. If you fail to properly register within the program registration dates, you could lose your garden.

  • Step 4: Complete payment in the preferred method

  • Step 5: Registration is complete with a confirmation email from Look N’ Book along with your receipt.

Steps to Switch 2023 Garden for the 2024 Season (Location or Size): Starting April 2, 2024

  • Step 1: Update Look n' Book account contact information. 
  • Step 2: Renew garden from previous year to secure a spot - same steps as above.
  • Step 3: Methods to switch:
    • In person at Alto Reste Cemetery
    • Phone - 403-342-8303 or 403-406-8706 during the dates specified below.
    • Choose a Garden Location to switch to. 
  • Step 4: Complete payment in the preferred method
  • Step 5: Registration is complete with a confirmation email from Look N’ Book along with your receipt. 

2024 Garden Schedule 

Mar 1 - 28 RENEW - Returning gardeners apply for the same garden plot from the previous year.
April 2 - 19  SWITCH - Returning gardeners can apply to change garden locations or plot sizes. Please have a map of the site to view, if calling the office, to easily complete the switch to an available plot.
Sat, April 20 NEW Gardener Registration Day at Recreation Centre (4501 - 47A Ave) 10 am - 2 pm or until sold out. 
Fri, May 17 Plots Open (weather dependent) - if gardens open sooner, you will be notified by email.
Tues, July 2 'Weed It or Lose It' - notifications will be sent to applicants if the garden is not adequately maintained. Please notify us if you cannot maintain or choose to give up your garden.
Mon, Oct 14 Last Day to harvest produce and remove all fencing, stakes, water containers, tools, etc.
Tues, Oct 15  Closed - Plots are cleared and tilled by Parks - any items removed will be discarded, no exceptions.
