National Indigenous History Month

National Indigenous History Month

June is National Indigenous History Month in Canada, a time to recognize the rich history, heritage, resilience and diversity of First Nations, Inuit and Métis.

All Canadians, including Red Deerians, are encouraged to take time to learn more about First Nations, Inuit and Métis people and our collective past.

The best way to gain a deeper understanding of First Nations, Inuit and Métis experiences is through their own voices. Enjoy Indigenous storytelling by picking up a book, attending a show, watching a movie or listening to music from Indigenous artists. Organizations operating in Red Deer are listed below. Many local events are posted to the Red Deer Community Events calendar.
