National Flag of Canada Day

National Flag of Canada Day

National Flag of Canada Day is celebrated annually on February 15 to commemorate the first raising of the red and white maple leaf flag on Parliament Hill in 1965. Officially declared in 1996, this day honours the national symbol representing unity, freedom and equity.

Why is this event significant?

Our national flag is a symbol that unites Canadians and reflects the common values we take pride in – democracy, inclusion and equity.
