Metis Week
Métis Week celebrates the heritage, history and contributions of Métis people to Alberta and Canada with events held across the province. The event falls annually the week of November 16 (Louis Riel Day) to commemorate Louis Riel’s wrongful execution, honour Métis heritage and celebrate the future of the Métis Nation.
Métis Week is a time for Métis and non-Métis to come together to honour Métis history and celebrate Métis culture and traditions. It’s a showcase of who the Métis people are and the importance of their struggle for recognition and rights.
