Census, Statistics and Demographics

The Census provides an official count of the number of people living in Red Deer. In addition to establishing current population, it helps us understand community needs as we plan for future growth and development.

2021 Federal Census data

A federal census is conducted once every five years and information is released by Statistics Canada. The census provides a detailed statistical portrait of Canada and its people by their demographic, social and economic characteristics.

Statistics Canada released population and dwelling data from the 2021 Census on February 9, 2022. Data for the city of Red Deer is as follows:
