With a national Canada Post strike currently underway, The City of Red Deer is taking steps to ensure residents can continue accessing essential information and services without interruption.
MyCity, The City’s online customer portal, is the best way for residents to view and manage utility billing, property tax, business and dog licences, and permit information. Residents are strongly encouraged to create a MyCity profile at reddeer.ca/MyCity for 24/7 access to account details.
“We are committed to maintaining uninterrupted service during the postal disruption,” said Jennifer Thomas, Information Management Services Supervisor. “MyCity offers secure, convenient access to a wide range of City services, and we’re here to help residents get set up.”
Mailing and document drop-off during the disruption
As The City of Red Deer cannot send or receive mail through Canada Post during the strike, the following options are available:
- Outgoing mail from the City will be held at City Hall for pickup during regular business hours.
- Mail for the City can be dropped off:
- In person at City Hall during business hours, or
- In drop boxes located at both City Hall entrances (available after hours).
Payments and invoices
All utility bills, licence renewals and other City invoices are still due by their regular deadlines. Late penalties will apply if payments are missed. Customers are encouraged to:
- Access account details and balances via MyCity
- Make payments online, through financial institutions, or in person at City Hall
Payments on behalf of The City of Red Deer will be delivered by courier. For information on payment or invoices, feel free to contact the relevant department or call 403-342-8111 for support.
Special Ballot Packages
During the Canada Post service disruption, Elections Red Deer will use a courier to send Special Ballot packages that were requested prior to Oct. 14, where possible. Voters who have requested special ballot packages are responsible to return their completed ballots to the election team prior to the deadline. Special ballots must not be placed in drop boxes. Ballots found in drop boxes will be rejected. More information about special ballots can be found on the election website.
