RDES responds to fire at apartment building

At 3:37 a.m. on August 11, Red Deer Emergency Services (RDES) responded to a structure fire at the 3400 block of 49 Avenue. Upon arrival, crews found the three-storey apartment building's exterior on fire. 

While the fire had spread to a first-floor mechanical room, damaging mechanical and electrical equipment, crews were able to get the fire under control quickly and prevent the fire from spreading to residential units. 

Crews responded with four engines, a ladder, Platoon Chief, ambulance, EMS supervisor, and Duty Chief. 

Residents were evacuated for approximately 2 hours. No residents were injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
