Red Deer, Alta. – On Oct. 11, 2023 at 2:14 p.m., Red Deer RCMP Traffic Services responded to a 2-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 2A and Township road 391.
RCMP arrived to the location and both Fire and EMS were on scene.
The driver of the Ford Fusion, a 76-year-old female resident of Red Deer, was declared deceased at the scene. The passenger of the fusion, an 81-year-old male resident of Red Deer, was transported to hospital by EMS and later succumbed to his injuries. The lone male occupant and driver of the Dodge 3500 was not physically injured.
RCMP Collision Analysts were called to the scene and a thorough investigation has been conducted. As a result, RCMP have determined that the Ford fusion was initially travelling northbound on Hwy 2A. The Fusion made a U-turn on township road 391, across Hwy 2A, and failed to yield to on-coming traffic. The fusion pulled out in front of the dodge pick-up truck and was struck.
