Red Deer, Alta. – On June 2, 2023, at 1:35 p.m., Central Middle School in Red Deer received a threat involving a firearm. The School went into a “Hold and Secure” status and RCMP attended to investigate. RCMP have confirmed that threats made to the School on June 1 and June 2 were from the same person.
RCMP have confirmed that there was no risk to the school or students.
RCMP are in contact with the youth and a criminal investigation is underway.

Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP would like to advise the public that the unfolding event at 53 Street and 47 Avenue in Red Deer has been resolved.
The Red Deer RCMP have identified and located a suspect and are currently in contact with the individual.
There is no risk to the students or staff.
Red Deer RCMP have cleared Central Middle School. Students and staff have begun to return to the building and resume classes at the direction of the public-school board.
Police will continue to investigate.

Red Deer RCMP respond to threat at Central Middle School
Red Deer, Alta. – Red Deer RCMP are currently responding to an unfolding event at 53 Street and 47 Avenue in Red Deer.
At approximately 9:24 a.m., Red Deer RCMP were notified of a threat made over the telephone to Central Middle School.
Central Middle School has been placed on evacuation.
All staff and students are safe, and police continue to investigate.
RCMP are asking parents and residents to avoid the area and await communication from the public-school board for further direction.
Red Deer RCMP are working with the public-school board to ensure a timely investigation.
