Red Deer, Alta. – The Red Deer RCMP are asking the public for assistance in identifying three suspects involved in an assault and robbery.
On Jan. 18, 2022, at approximately 8:30 p.m., an adult male was walking southbound on the Kerrywood Drive walking path, near Overdown Drive. Three males approached the victim on the trail, and assaulted and robbed the man of his hockey stick and equipment. One of the suspects then lit the victim’s clothing on fire before they all fled southbound, towards Bower Ponds. The victim was able to smother the flames; however, suffered minor injuries.
The suspect descriptions are limited, but given the specific and serious nature of the attack, Red Deer RCMP are hoping someone will come forward with information about the incident or may know the identify of the suspects.
The first suspect is described as a male with darker complexion, wearing a balaclava. The second suspect is described as a male wearing a balaclava with a pompom on top, darker grey snowboard jacket, jeans, and beige boots in a similar style to Timberlands. The third suspect was also believed to be a male wearing a balaclava.
