Today, The City of Red Deer and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 417 successfully ratified a new collective agreement.
The new three-year agreement, effective from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026, includes wage increases of:
- January 1, 2024: Three per cent
- January 1, 2025: Three per cent
- January 1, 2026: Three per cent
"Having a three-year deal in place gives us stability over the long-term,” said Tara Lodewyk, City Manager.
The agreement takes inflation rates and broader economic challenges into consideration. These trends are affecting municipalities across Canada, and this proactive approach allows The City to continue supporting both its employees and community services.
CUPE represents over 1,100 City of Red Deer employees, working in a variety of roles, both inside and outside. The organizational costs associated with the agreement will be funded through The City’s operating budget.
