There’s still snow on the ground, but spring is actually here and that means it’s time to prepare for an increase in seasonal yard waste. To help residents make the most efficient use of their carts, Green Carts will shift back to weekly collection starting the week of Monday, April 1. Seasonal changes in the Green Cart collection schedule supports the efficiency of the cart collection program, while still meeting the collection needs of cart customers.
Spring yard work often means additional organic material. Residents are reminded that if their Green Cart is full, extra yard waste can be set out along with their full Green Cart for collection. Place the extra yard waste one metre away from any cart in a paper yard waste bag, loose in a garbage can or small branches can be bundled and tied with string.
Residents are encouraged to sign up for Cart Collection Alerts through Notify Red Deer for personalized reminders about which carts to set out each week. They can sign up or add these alerts to their existing account at www.reddeer.ca/notifyreddeer. Printable cart collection calendars are available online at www.reddeer.ca/carts.
