Tree risk mitigation work around Red Deer is underway with contractors in the area felling and removing trees. The work is expected to take until February 2024 to complete.
This mitigation work is done to increase public safety and to lower the risk of property and infrastructure damage and is limited to trees and limbs that are dying or damaged. It is completed during winter months between October and February for easier adherence to the Migratory Bird Act and to reduce damage to the forest ecology.
The City reminds the public to give crews room to maneuver and to follow all signage when navigating around forested areas and trails.
