A special city council meeting will occur on Tuesday, January 31, 2023, with City Council discussing the future permanent shelter in Red Deer.
The location of the future shelter in Red Deer has been a topic of discussion by Council and the community for some time now, and on Tuesday, Council will meet to discuss next steps.
The special Council meeting will start at 12:30 p.m. with shelter being the only item on the agenda. There will be an in-camera portion of the meeting.

On October 11, 2022, City Council approved a location to recommend to the Province of Alberta. Since that time negotiations have been underway with the landowner, and The City of Red Deer now has more information from the Province of Alberta to be able to talk about next steps and about sharing information with the community.
