Acting City Manager Sarah Tittemore is pleased to announce that Superintendent Holly Glassford has been selected as the new Officer in Charge (OIC) of the Red Deer RCMP detachment. Glassford, who has been the acting OIC since December 2021, assumes the rank of Superintendent with the permanent appointment to OIC.

“Over the past four months, Superintendent Glassford has been providing excellent leadership in the interim role, and I look forward to continuing to work together on our policing and crime prevention initiatives,” said Acting City Manager Sarah Tittemore.

Supt. Glassford has 23 years of service with the RCMP and has served throughout Canada, including numerous postings in the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia and Alberta. Supt. Glassford joined the Red Deer RCMP in 2019 where she was appointed as the Operations Officer.

“Over the past three years, I have worked alongside a great team of dedicated RCMP members and municipal employees who are committed to serving the citizens of Red Deer,” said Superintendent Glassford. “Together, I look forward to actioning our new Policing Priorities and furthering our collaboration with The City to shape community safety for years to come.”

Supt. Glassford also holds the distinction of being the first woman to hold the position of Officer in Charge for the Red Deer RCMP.

“I love to see others achieve their goals; it is an honour to think I can play a role in empowering more young women to take on leadership roles in their professions and in their community,” said Supt. Glassford.

“I would like to congratulate Superintendent Glassford on this appointment to Officer in Charge for Red Deer,” said Chief Superintendent Darcy Fleury, District Commander, Central Alberta District. “I am confident that Superintendent Glassford will continue to provide strong leadership to the detachment and the community, with a strong focus on crime prevention and reduction.”
