City council accepted and ratified a new collective agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 254, the union represents 45 inside and outside workers in the Electric Light and Power department. The agreement covers such roles as Powerline Technician, Journeyman Electrician Technician, Electrical Engineering Technologist and Designer classifications.
This new agreement is effective from January 1, 2022, to December 31, 2023. The new collective agreement includes wage increases, that are reflective of this specialized labour market of 2.25 per cent January 1, 2022, and 2.5 per cent January 1, 2023.
