The City of Red Deer and Red Deer RCMP are seeking community feedback as they work together to develop the community’s 2022-2024 Annual Policing Plan.

The Annual Policing Plan, or APP, outlines local priorities for RCMP to focus on over a two-year time frame. The plan is developed jointly by The City and RCMP and incorporates crime data and public feedback into the decision-making process.

“We are asking all community members to share their experiences with us,” said Inspector Holly Glassford, Acting Officer in Charge for the Red Deer RCMP detachment. “Community feedback, coupled with crime statistics and data from our detachment, help us to understand what our community is experiencing and therefore identify what areas we need to focus on.”

Members of the public are invited to share their experiences and concerns through a public survey. The survey is available online at reddeer.ca/APP, and will remain open until February 23.

The 2022-2024 APP will take effect on April 1, replacing the previous 2020-2022 APP. The last APP also incorporated public feedback and identified three priorities, including crime reduction, public safety and community relations.

“While there is still work to be done, we have seen great success in addressing the priorities from the last APP,” said Inspector Glassford. “New proactive policing and crime reduction efforts have seen positive improvements in our local crime statistics over the past few years, and we saw significant reductions in both drug and property crimes from October 2019 to October 2021.”

More information about the Annual Policing Plan is available on The City’s website at reddeer.ca/APP.
