Red Deerians have a little more time to contribute to the City and RCMP’s community policing survey.

The City of Red Deer and Red Deer RCMP have extended the deadline for the 2022-2024 Annual Policing Plan survey in order to collect more feedback from the community.

“We’ve heard great feedback from responses so far, but are looking to hear from more people to ensure feedback is representative of the broader community,” said Inspector Holly Glassford, Acting Officer in Charge for the Red Deer RCMP detachment.

Members of the public are invited to share their experiences and concerns through a public survey. The survey is available online at reddeer.ca/APP until February 28.

The Annual Policing Plan, or APP, outlines local priorities for RCMP to focus on over a two-year time frame. The plan is developed jointly by The City and RCMP and incorporates crime data and public feedback into the decision-making process.

“We use community feedback to understand the challenges Red Deerians are facing, and what their priorities are for our community,” said Glassford. “We use that information, as well as local crime data and feedback from our officers, to help inform local policing priorities.”

The 2022-2024 APP will take effect on April 1, replacing the previous 2020-2022 APP.

More information about the Annual Policing Plan and a link to the survey are available on The City’s website at reddeer.ca/APP.
