It’s Election Day in Red Deer

Today is Election Day, and voters are encouraged to cast their ballots for Mayor, City Councillors, and School Board Trustees.

Polling stations are open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at seven locations across the city. Red Deer voters can vote at any polling station – there are no area-specific voting requirements, and a voter card is not required.

Red Deer Election Day voting locations:

  • Northside Community Centre YMCA – 6391 76 Street
  • iHotel & Conference Centre Red Deer – 6500 67 Street
  • Parkland Mall – 6359 50 Avenue
  • Baymont Hotel Red Deer – 4311 49 Avenue
  • Deer Park Church – 2960 39 Street
  • Collicutt Centre – 3031 30 Avenue
  • Harvest Centre, Westerner Park – 4847A 19 Street

Approximate wait times at each polling station are posted to the election website, allowing voters to choose a location with the shortest wait.

Rural Voters  

Elections Red Deer also administers voting for the Red Deer Catholic Regional School Board, whose boundaries extend beyond Red Deer City limits.

Voting locations for Red Deer Catholic Regional School Board wards (Highway 11 Ward, QEII Ward and Red Deer Area Ward) are listed on the Red Deer Election website along with a downloadable map. Central Alberta voters who wish to vote for Catholic School Trustees can cast their vote at any voting station located within their ward. Voters are encouraged to review the website for details.

To vote in Red Deer’s municipal and school board elections, you must be:

  • At least 18 years old;
  • A Canadian citizen, and
  • A resident of the jurisdiction you are voting in.

Identification is required to vote. Voters must bring one piece of identification that confirms both name and residential address. Learn more about voter eligibility and ID requirements

Election results will be posted to the election website by 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, October 24.
