(Red Deer, Alberta)Emergency Services crews responded earlier this evening to a hazardous materials incident involving a rail car leak in the Edgar Industrial Area, east of 7791 Edgar Industrial Way.
As a precautionary measure, the Edgar Industrial baseball fields were evacuated, and Edgar Industrial Drive was temporarily closed to both northbound and southbound traffic.
Hazmat crews from CP Rail and Nova Chemicals worked in coordination with City of Red Deer Emergency Services to assess and resolve the situation.
The leak was isolated, air quality monitoring was conducted, and emergency response is no longer required. There is no risk to the public.
The City thanks residents and businesses for their cooperation and understanding.
