Description
This artwork asks you to step into your dreams and memories of adventure, to collapse the division between work and play, to challenge the separation between our work lives and our lived lives. The office space should be a place of connection, play, and creativity, a place where the entire self is accepted and encouraged. This work fosters these connections by bringing the mountains, places that challenge us and encourage an attitude of discovery, into the office space, and with its possibility for adventure the work/life division can, for a time, be collapsed allowing us to be our full selves.
The chosen colour are inspired by Red Deer, the purples and blues by the ice and light of a winter festival, the auburn by the autumn colours and the harvest, and the green by tractors, parks, and the rebirth of spring. The choice of a view of Abraham Lake is in part because of its proximity to Red Deer, and in part because my work always begins from a place of connection and between my home in Banff and the city of Red Deer we can connect across the mountains.
