Mark your calendar for these 2021 dates:
Kick it to the Curb - third full weekend of the month from May through October – This city-wide event helps Red Deerians reduce and reuse. Place your useful but unwanted items at the front of your property and give them away during Kick it to the Curb.
Rain Barrel Rebate Program - starting May 3 - Purchase a rain barrel and apply for a rebate of 50 per cent of the cost of the rain barrel - up to $50!
Plant and Mulch Rebate Programs - starting May 3 - Purchase native or drought-tolerant plants from the eligible plant list, or purchase permeable mulch and apply for rebates. Rebates are 50 per cent of the total cost up to $50 for each plant and mulch – that’s up to $100.
Participate in these programs all year:
Toilet Rebate Program - Replace a high flow toilet with a qualifying low-flow toilet and apply for a rebate.
Energy & Water Conservation Toolkits – A home conservation assessment can help you learn how to make your home more energy efficient. Contact the Red Deer Public Library to borrow a free do-it-yourself kit today.
Green Carts - Place your organic waste including food scraps, yard waste and pet waste in your Green Cart for weekly, year round pick up.
Blue Carts - Place recyclables such as paper, cardboard, numbered plastics (numbers 1 through 7), and metal cans in your blue cart for regular collection.
Waste Management Facility - Residential waste, recycling, household hazardous waste, electronic waste, scrap metal (including Freon appliances and propane tanks), light bulbs, residential paint products, tires, asphalt shingles, yard waste, unpainted gypsum drywall, and unpainted lumber are accepted at the Waste Management Facility.
Medication Return - Throwing unused medication in the trash or flushing down the toilet can be harmful to the environment. Expired, unused and unwanted medications can be dropped off for free, year-round at participating pharmacies.
