10 days left to review your property’s assessed value

March 9, 2018 10:12 AM
(Red Deer, Alberta)

The deadline for filing formal property assessment appeals is March 20, 2018. Property owners are encouraged to review their assessment notices carefully and contact Revenue and Assessment Services if they have questions.

The value of the property in the assessment notice is used to calculate 2018 property taxes. Each assessment is based on the property’s market value as of July 1, 2017 and its physical condition as of December 31, 2017. Any changes to the real estate market or condition of a property after these dates will be reflected in next year’s assessment.

If property owners believe there is an error on their assessment notice, they should contact Revenue & Assessment Services at 403-342-8126 and arrange an appointment to speak with an assessor.

If concerns cannot be resolved following a conversation with an assessor, a formal appeal must be submitted to the Clerk of the Regional Assessment Review Board no later than March 20, 2018. Details on how to file an appeal are online at
