Great Chief Park

Great Chief Park is Red Deer’s premier outdoor sports park.

Red Deer Sportsfield Map (pdf)

Sports fields and diamonds are classified by size and level of service. Class A and B fields and diamonds are bookable and larger in size, regularly maintained and most appropriate for developmental sport and tournament. Classes C and D fields and diamonds can be used without booking or charge as these sites receive less regular maintenance, smaller in size and possibly located within a retention pond.

What type of sports use outdoor facilities?

  • Fields - Soccer, football, field lacrosse, rugby, cricket, quidditch, and ultimate frisbee
  • Diamonds - Baseball, softball, slo-pitch
  • Courts - Tennis, basketball, and pickleball

In addition, there are 34 neighbourhood tennis and basketball courts found throughout the city for casual, recreational use on a first-come, first-serve basis.
