Cemetery Services

The City of Red Deer owns and operates two cemeteries: The Red Deer Cemetery, located on 55 Street, north of Michener Centre; and the Alto Reste Cemetery located 3.6 km east of 30 Avenue on Highway 11.

Services we provide

As each person has different needs and wishes, The City of Red Deer offers a number of choices for traditional or cremation burials. It is a good idea to talk with family members about these options.

As you choose a burial site, remember to take into account your personal preferences along with consideration for family and friends who will wish to visit the site.

City services provided

  • Information regarding location of gravesites as well as data of use for families, genealogical researchers and funeral and memorialization professionals.
  • At need and pre-need lot or columbarium niche sales.
  • Sale of grave liners.
  • Sale and placement of concrete monument foundations.
  • Artificial greens and lowering device for graveside committal.

On-leash animals are permitted onto cemetery grounds if accompanied by an adult.

The City of Red Deer is a member of the Western Canada Cemetery Association.
