The City of Red Deer’s Emergency Services Department provides an integrated Firefighting and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) response within city limits. This integrated approach in Emergency Services means that individuals are cross-trained in both Firefighting and Emergency Medical Services response, providing a seamless response to any emergency by any and every member.

This exciting career provides unique challenges physically, mentally, and socially while offering numerous opportunities for career diversity and advancement.  Individuals participate in annual in-house training not only in Emergency Medical Services and certification in NFPA 1001 Level 1 and 2 standards, but also various officer/trainer qualifications, and specialized equipment responses training, providing a fast paced and dynamic workplace. 

Applicants must be already certified and registered as an EMT-Paramedic (ACP) with the Alberta College of Paramedics in order to be considered. 

Applicants must also successfully pass the Firefighter Applicant Physical Test.

Employment applications for the Emergency Service department are to be submitted to Human Resources and are only accepted on positions that are currently being advertised.
